Entry 1 = I just joined your Blog and will add a link on my family blog soon and place the link up when I have gotten off the uni one and onto the family one............life is too busy
ReplyDeleteEntry 2 = My favourite family tradition is spending Christmas Eve and Boxing Day with extended family but spending Christmas Day with just the kids and Rob, this means that I can also relax and enjoy Christmas Day. We get up reeeally early to read the Christmas stiory from the scriptures and open presents (with six kids this takes about 3hrs from start to clean up) then we relax and get everything that needs setting up and putting together done, have a cold lunch, relax and watch videas, the first being 'The Nativity' then we have a hot dinner and more relaxing. Sometimes we will even fit in a nanny nap in the afternoon.
Entry 3 = you are now under other great blogs with your competition as the only ones so far

ReplyDeleteIn my family, all grandchildren were given a hand-knitted Christmas stocking our Grandmother on our first Christmas. Once bigger than we were they are now "life sized" Christmas stockings and the tradition has grown to include husbands, wives and great-grandchildren as the grandchildren aged and life moved forward. Her arthritis doesn't allow her to do the knitting anymore, so she outsources to the church ladies. :) It just wouldn't be Christmas without my stocking.

Oh all of this is wonderful! I am excited to be entered. I am a follower so that's ONE!I linked candy on my sidebar so that is TWO!Our tradition for Christmas is having our annual Christmas party, all family gathers in the big house behind city where in a court yard there is a dressed up alive fur-tree. Before Christmas we guess on the future)) for this purpose we put 5 glasses with water (1-with simple water, 2-with sweet water, 3-salty water,4-with ring,5-with coin). Before guessing we expose glasses, but contents it's not visible also pulls out one of five. With what contents the glass will choose, at it all year will be such. If with simple water the glass will choose, the life will be without special variations all year, if with sweet year will be cheerful, with salty water you will lead all year in tears, with a ring it is fast in marriage, but if the person is already married then will be any large gift,if with the coin, means that year will be rich.

ReplyDeleteI guess I'd have to say one of my favorite traditions is baking all those yummy christmas cookies.
ReplyDelete1- I am a follower because I think you are the most adorable aussie I know...I might not always agree with you...but I do love you
ReplyDelete2- My tradition...I have taken this from my youth and passed it to my children. I just love the christmas eve pajamas. Yes, they are always matching. But I just think it is a fun thing to do. Has nothing to do with religion just fun.
ReplyDeleteAs a mom, the other tradition that I love, is making christmas cookies with the children for Santa. Then leaving them out with milk and carrots for the reindeer.

My favorite Christmas tradition is my mother's ornament swap party. It is like a Yankee swap, only with ornaments rather than gifts. It started out when my parents bought their first house, and over the years, it has become even better as my relatives (there are usually 40-something people there!) compete to see who can get the "ugliest" ornament, the outcast ornament if you will. It's a blast, and hubby and I look at ornaments everywhere we go, searching for the outcast of the year :)

ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be Christmas without our special cookie that I make only at Christmas. We all look forward to them and I make them for family, friends and neighbours. My favorite part of Christmas is our family gathering on Boxing Day, the 26th.

ReplyDeleteA Christmas tradition in our house is that I put all of the decorations the children have made at kinder and school up every year. Although last year I did manage to leave a few in the box! With 3 boys, there were 3 of everything. I left some of the coloured pictures in their box.

For Christmas to be just right you need to open the presents with a cup of coffee in hand as soon as you get up in the morning - you must have bon bons on the table and you need christmas cake and custard to enjoy for a week after christmas. And there must be a leg of ham to enjoy for the weeks to follow. Without these things it would not be christmas for me. Also must leave something for Santa and the Reindeers.
I've signed up to follow your blog. It's such a bonus finding fellow Aussie bloggers to follow. Hugs Naomi
ReplyDeleteMy favourite memory of a christmas tradition was when I was still living at home with my Mum....she used to allow me to have 'touchy feely' of my presents leading up to Christmas Eve, but she always used to say if I guessed what one was, I couldn't have it....so I'd always guess ridiculous things such as jumbo jet, or hippopotamus....then, as she got older, she'd forget what she'd bought so guessing didn't always hinder my gift list! The other thing was, with all the touchy feely, I got to choose one present and that could be opened Christmas Eve before going to bed.....thanks for reminding me of that, as Mum has since passed away (just over a year ago), so we don't do the Christmas frivolity anymore. Hugs Naomi

ReplyDeleteI guess the "tradition" we followed as kids was to get up as early as possible and sneak out to the lounge to look at our presents from Santa. I remember quite a few times sneaking out at 12:30am and opening presents - trying to do it as quietly as possible so we didn't wake mum and dad up. Even now as an adult I can't seem to sleep in on Christmas Day!
